July 2025: Colorado Springs Airport monthly traffic release
Rezul News/10713040
~ Colorado Springs Airport (COS) has reported a decrease in passenger traffic for the month of July 2025. According to the latest statistics, 242,314 travelers passed through the terminal, marking a 3.4 percent decline compared to the same period last year.
The decline in passenger traffic was reflected in enplanements as well, which fell by 3.1 percent year-over-year. However, seat availability saw a slight increase of 1.3 percent. The overall load factor for July was recorded at 80.5 percent, down by 3.7 percentage points from July 2024.
This decrease in passenger traffic is consistent with national trends, as airports across the country are experiencing reduced demand due to various factors such as economic conditions and travel restrictions.
Despite the overall decline, two major airlines at COS – American Airlines and Delta Air Lines – experienced double-digit growth in enplanements. This growth can be attributed to new services being offered by these airlines, including flights to Chicago O'Hare (ORD), seasonal service to Minneapolis–St. Paul (MSP), and additional frequencies to Atlanta (ATL) and Salt Lake City (SLC).

United Airlines also saw double-digit growth at COS, driven by an extra frequency to Denver (DEN) and increased capacity through larger aircraft.
The Colorado Springs Airport remains focused on long-term growth through strategic air service offerings and partnerships with airlines. This positioning will enable the airport to serve as a key travel hub for the Pikes Peak region.
In addition to the decline in passenger traffic, there have been some notable updates at COS. Southwest Airlines will resume its seasonal international service to Cancun (CUN) on select dates during fall, winter, and spring starting from November 22 and 29, 2025.
Furthermore, Southwest Airlines will launch year-round service five times a week to San Diego (SAN) from October 2, 2025. The airline will also resume its seasonal service to San Antonio (SAT) on peak days during the holidays.
Construction is currently underway at Gates 1 and 3, which are expected to open in November, just in time for Thanksgiving. Despite the ongoing construction, Mountain View Food Court and Atrevida Beer Company remain open and operational. However, Evolve by Hudson is temporarily closed for renovations and a temporary retail location has been set up between Gates 7 and 9. The new store is expected to open in November.
