Israel Showcases Pilgrimage Experiences at Global Religious Tourism Congress

ATLANTA - Rezul -- The Israel Ministry of Tourism participated in the International Religious Tourism Congress, Land of Living Faith, in El Salvador, where delegates adopted the San Salvador Declaration, a policy framework outlining guiding principles for religious tourism for 2026–2028.
Representing Israel was Noga Sher-Greco, Director of Religious Tourism Marketing at the Israel Ministry of Tourism. The congress brought together religious leaders, policymakers, tourism professionals, tour operators and Christian media representatives to discuss religious tourism and sustainable development.
"Israel warmly welcomes visitors of all faiths seeking a profound, authentic connection to the places sacred to them," Sher-Greco said. "Participating in international forums such as this enables us to strengthen professional partnerships while continuing to promote responsible, accessible and sustainable religious tourism."

"Travelers of faith across the American South have long looked to Israel as the birthplace of their spiritual heritage," said Lorin Maugery, Consul Director for the Israel Ministry of Tourism, United States Southern Region. "As interest in faith-based travel continues to grow, we remain committed to welcoming visitors with meaningful pilgrimage experiences and ensuring they can connect with the places most sacred to their beliefs."
During the congress, the Ministry highlighted Israel's unique role as the setting for events described in the Bible, its commitment to freedom of worship and access to holy sites, ongoing accessibility improvements in Jerusalem's Old City, and newer visitor experiences including Slow Tourism, the Gospel Trail and the Way to Jerusalem.
Israel's participation reflects the Ministry's continued efforts to promote religious tourism and strengthen partnerships with the global faith travel community.
