~ Idaho Falls Police Department Seeks New Officers, Testing Date Approaching
The Idaho Falls Police Department (IFPD) is on the lookout for new police officers to join their ranks. With a testing date just a few weeks away, interested candidates have the opportunity to make a positive difference in people's lives and in the world.
According to IFPD Chief Bryce Johnson, being a police officer not only offers a fulfilling career but also allows individuals to serve in a great community. "Idaho Falls Police Officers get to have a great career making an impact every day, all while serving in a great community," said Chief Johnson.
The written and physical fitness test will take place on July 26th at the Idaho Falls Police Complex. The day will begin with a written exam designed to measure skills and abilities necessary for success as a police officer. This will be followed by a physical fitness test that includes various exercises such as sprinting, jumping, push-ups, sit-ups, and running. Interested candidates can register for the test on PublicSafetyTesting.com and must also submit an application on the City of Idaho Falls website.

Candidates who pass both the written and physical fitness tests will move on to the next steps in the hiring process. This includes a thorough background investigation, oral interviews, and medical and psychological evaluations. To be considered for the position, applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 21 years old, high school graduates or hold an equivalent GED, and possess a valid driver's license.
"We are looking for people who have the drive to do good in our community," stated IFPD Captain John Marley. "We want people who are ready to work hard and be part of a team taking care of the city, keeping people safe, investigating crime and getting justice for victims. If you want to be part of that, this is your opportunity."
To help interested candidates prepare for the upcoming test date, IFPD will be hosting a Test Prep and Intro meeting on July 12 from 8-10 a.m. at the Idaho Falls Police Complex. This meeting is open to anyone interested in testing to become an Idaho Falls Police Officer on July 26th or in the near future. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with members of IFPD responsible for hiring and learn more about the testing process, as well as gain insight into the career and the Idaho Falls Police Department.
