The launch event was held at the Chrysler Building in New York City and brought together Chief Procurement Officers, sustainability leaders, ministers and policymakers for a high-level public-private dialogue. The discussion focused on aligning policy with sustainable development priorities and finding practical solutions for cooperation in making sustainable procurement the norm.
In conjunction with the launch of the Coalition, a report titled "Procurement: A Catalyst for Sustainable Growth and Resilience" was released. This report provides an overview of current trends in sustainable procurement and offers guidance for organizations looking to integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into their purchasing decisions.
Moving forward, the Coalition will focus on several key areas of action. This includes creating a platform for public-private collaboration where leading supply chain owners can share real-world challenges and innovations in driving sustainable supply chains. The Coalition also aims to provide common guidance and tools for buyers to consider ESG factors alongside cost when making purchasing decisions.
