From Fast Food to Fast Casual: Crushed Red Elevates Former Burger King Location

ST. LOUIS - Rezul -- Change can be difficult, and nothing is truer than transforming a defunct Burger King on a busy St. Louis thoroughfare into a haven of freshly chopped salads and pizzas. But that's exactly what restauranteur Chris LaRocca has done opening a brand-new Crushed Red at 14124 Manchester Road in St. Louis.

"From the first moment I saw the location with its sad, outdated drive through, my mind was bursting with possibilities," says LaRocca. "We have wanted to open a location along Manchester for a while and we also wanted to open a drive thru. This location checked both boxes."

Despite the location's beginnings, it bears no resemblance to a fast-food chain. While the interior footprint is smaller than most Crushed Red locations, LaRocca has added a chic, outdoor patio with custom metal privacy screens to expand seating and allow for al fresco dining. The drive thru adds extra convenience for busy families allowing them to pick up a healthy meal without ever leaving their car. "We're hoping this new model is something we can utilize in other places that might not fit our larger, dine-in concept. Allowing for a drive thru can introduce Crushed Red to entirely new areas," says LaRocca

Speaking of new areas, if you didn't think opening one new restaurant was hard enough, try two: Crushed Red is working on another new location at the Streets of St. Charles, which is slated to open later this Fall. Construction on both locations was happening concurrently: no pressure there. A rolling stone gathers no moss!
