LAKELAND, Fla., Nov. 20, 2023 ~ On Saturday, December 16, Florida Southern College will celebrate its Fall Commencement with a combined ceremony honoring both undergraduate and graduate students. In total, 207 students are expected to receive their degrees. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Branscomb Auditorium and can be watched live on the college's website or YouTube channel.

The keynote address for the undergraduate ceremony will be given by Bishop Tom Berlin of the Southeastern Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church. A native of Winchester, Virginia, Bishop Berlin attended Virginia Tech and received a Bachelor of Science in Business with a major in public administration. He also holds a Master of Divinity from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University and has authored numerous books throughout his career.

The national anthem and Florida Southern Alma Mater will be performed by senior Kaitlynn Rogers, who is set to graduate in the spring with a Music Performance major. Speaking on behalf of the graduates will be Mr. Travis Sinsabaugh from Deltona, Florida who is earning his Bachelor of Music Education degree.

Dr. Tracey Tedder, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Florida Southern College expressed her pride for the Class of 2023 saying "Amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic, these resilient individuals embarked on their academic journey with determination and perseverance"

During the ceremony, Florida Southern will present its President's Scholar Medal for superb academic achievement to one student who has demonstrated great promise for future success; however, this prestigious award is not named ahead of time and will be announced during the ceremony.
