Drake Brings Jimmy Brooks Back as KayeDinero Turns Banks Ave Into a Nighttime Visual

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Rezul -- Drake is revisiting the beginning.

KayeDinero is documenting where her story is happening now.

As OVO and Degrassi revive the world of Jimmy Brooks through a new apparel collaboration, Asheville-based artist KayeDinero has released a nighttime visual for her instrumental single "Banks," filmed around Banks Ave in Asheville's South Slope.

The timing could hardly be better.

WildBrain and October's Very Own unveiled the OVO x Degrassi Collection this week, including an archival recreation of the blue-and-gold basketball jersey worn by Jimmy Brooks, Drake's character on Degrassi: The Next Generation. The collection launches Sept. 25.

"I like when a place becomes part of the art," KayeDinero said. "Nostalgia isn't just memory. It's atmosphere."

From Jimmy Brooks to Banks Ave

Long before releasing music herself, KayeDinero followed Drake from his Aubrey Graham and Degrassi era into his music career.

Now both artists are drawing from place and memory in different ways.

"Drake is tapping back into Jimmy Brooks," KayeDinero said. "I'm documenting the places shaping my music right now."

The "Banks" visual captures Banks Ave after dark — streetlights, nightlife, mountain silhouettes and the unmistakable mood of Asheville's South Slope.

Banks Avenue is part of the South Slope district, an Asheville area closely associated with nightlife, local businesses, breweries and creative spaces.

"Banks" continues KayeDinero's growing series of place-driven releases and visuals.

Recent titles have referenced both Detroit and Western North Carolina, including "French Broad," "Appalachia," "Cass Tech," "Nine Mile," "Barksdale" and "Banks."
