Columbia: SAVE-A-LIFE: naloxone education and distribution event will be hosted at MU Health Care South Providence Medical Park

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ COLUMBIA, MO - The University of Missouri Health Care (MU Health Care) is teaming up with the Boone County Overdose Response Coalition (BCORC) and Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS) to host a SAVE-A-LIFE event on Thursday, July 10. The event will take place from noon to 1 p.m. at the South Providence Medical Park, located at 551 Veterans Drive in the SPMB Conference Room 2130.

The event aims to educate both the public and professionals on naloxone, also known as Narcan®, which is a drug that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Attendees will have the opportunity to receive information and training on recognizing the signs of an overdose and how to use and access naloxone.

SAVE-A-LIFE is a monthly series of free events that focus on preventing opioid overdose deaths through the use of naloxone nasal spray. No registration is required for this event and all attendees will have access to a personal supply of naloxone.

Funding for this event comes from contract DH240054280 between PHHS and the State of Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Thanks to a continued partnership between PHHS and the Missouri Institute for Mental Health (MIMH), participants will be able to receive NARCAN® at no cost.
