Columbia Police respond to domestic assault on Pierre Street

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police responded to a physical disturbance call on the 4700 block of Pierre Street in the early hours of September 15. Upon arrival, officers found a victim who had been stabbed multiple times. The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After further investigation, officers identified the suspect as 60-year-old Lawrence Johnson, a resident of Columbia. Based on probable cause, Johnson was arrested for first-degree domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action.

Johnson was located at the same address where the incident took place and refused to come out for nearly three and a half hours. However, he was eventually taken into custody by the police. During his arrest, Johnson spat in the face of one of the officers, resulting in additional charges of fourth-degree assault special victim and felony resisting arrest.
