Columbia Fire Department responds to commercial structure fire, July 1

Rezul News/10706985
(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ On Tuesday morning, a commercial structure fire broke out at 7 N. Sixth St in Columbia, Missouri. The Columbia Fire Department was immediately dispatched to the scene at 9:10 a.m.

Upon arrival, the first fire company, consisting of three crew members, found smoke coming from the single-story building. The firefighters quickly forced entry into the secure building and began coordinated operations.

While some companies conducted a primary search for potential victims in low-visibility conditions, others worked to ventilate the building and launch an aggressive interior fire attack. Due to the location of the incident near downtown buildings and the intense heat, battalion chiefs called for additional fire companies.
