(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia City Council Sets Guidelines for Extended Operations During FIFA World Cup

In preparation for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, the Columbia City Council has established guidelines for businesses offering alcohol by the drink to extend their operating hours. This decision comes after the State of Missouri passed HB1041 in August, which allows for 23-hour operations for establishments serving alcohol, with the option for cities to opt out of the state ordinance.

The Columbia City Council voted to opt out and adopt specific parameters for extended operations during the World Cup. These parameters include allowing businesses to extend their hours on June 14, 17, 20, 21, 23, 27 and July 3. On these selected dates, businesses may stay open until 2:30 a.m.

To take advantage of these extended hours, businesses must apply for a special events permit online at CoMo.gov/convention-and-visitors-bureau/city-special-events/. The permit covers all requested open dates and requires a fee of $100. However, applications must be submitted at least 30 days before the first requested date of extension.

This decision by the Columbia City Council aims to support local businesses and provide an enjoyable experience for residents and visitors during the highly anticipated FIFA World Cup.
