Colorado Springs: CSPD Will Conduct Vehicle Registration Enforcement Surge

Rezul News/10733316
~ Colorado Springs Police Department to Conduct Community-Wide Vehicle Registration Enforcement Surge

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has announced that they will be conducting a community-wide vehicle registration enforcement surge from April 5, 2026, through April 11, 2026. This coordinated effort will also include other participating agencies such as the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, Colorado State Patrol, Monument Police Department, Fountain Police Department, and the Palmer Lake Police Department.

The main focus of this enforcement surge is to identify and address expired and unregistered vehicles on the roadways in Colorado Springs and throughout the Pikes Peak region. CSPD officers will be taking a zero-tolerance approach towards any registration violations during this period. According to Colorado law, all motor vehicles, motorcycles, trailers, and other applicable vehicles must display assigned license plates.

During the enforcement period, any vehicles found with fictitious license plates or expired registration exceeding one year will be impounded and towed. This strict approach is a direct response to concerns raised by the community. CSPD Chief Adrian Vasquez stated that their goal is to reinforce compliance ahead of increased seasonal travel and encourage voluntary registration renewals. This effort also aims to improve public safety by reducing the number of uninsured and unregistered vehicles on the roads.

Chief Vasquez also emphasized the importance of raising awareness about convenient options available for residents to stay current with their vehicle registration. He encourages all community members to verify that their vehicle registration is current and properly displayed before the enforcement period begins.

For those whose vehicle is not currently registered or has an expired registration that needs renewal, they can visit the Colorado Department of Revenue's Division of Motor Vehicles website for more information on how to register or renew their vehicle.

This community-wide registration enforcement surge is a collaborative effort between CSPD and its partner agencies. It serves as a reminder for all drivers to ensure their vehicles are properly registered in order to maintain compliance with the law and promote public safety.
