Colorado Springs: Circle Drive Bridges project shifts traffic to new westbound bridge by Wednesday
Rezul News/10721105
~ Colorado Springs - On Wednesday, Nov. 26, the city's major corridor, Circle Drive, will see a significant change as traffic is set to move to the new westbound bridge. This shift marks a major milestone in the ongoing efforts to replace the aging bridge structures and improve long-term safety and mobility for drivers.
Weather permitting, drivers can expect to see only minor changes following the traffic shift as crews begin demolishing the old westbound bridge. The entire project is expected to be completed by mid-2026. Once finished, the Willwood Tunnel will reopen in a one-way configuration to enhance traffic flow and safety for all users.

The Circle Drive Bridges project aims to replace two sets of twin structures on Circle Drive, east of Interstate 25, between Janitell Road and Monterey Road. These structures are over 800 feet long and stand at a height of 60 feet above Fountain Creek. They carry two lanes of traffic in both directions and span over various obstacles such as Fountain Creek, railroad tracks, Las Vegas Street, Hancock Expressway, and the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail. The original bridges were constructed back in 1963.
For regular updates on the project's progress, interested individuals can visit ColoradoSprings.gov/CircleDrBridges. This project is expected to greatly improve safety and mobility for drivers along this busy corridor.
