City of St. Louis Invites Residents to Interactive ZOUP Workshops to Review Draft Zoning Map and Standards
Rezul News/10730523
~ The City of St. Louis is taking steps to upgrade its zoning regulations and is seeking input from residents, business owners, and community stakeholders. The Zoning Upgrade (ZOUP) team has announced two interactive public workshops as part of the project, providing the first opportunity for the public to learn about and respond to the draft zoning district map and development standards.
According to Mary Hart Burton, the City's Zoning Administrator, the goal of this project is to create a zoning code that is understandable, equitable, and implementable. She emphasizes the importance of public input at this stage in order to ensure that the zoning map reflects neighborhood context and long-term community goals.
The workshops will take place on March 25th at Carpenter Branch Library and March 26th at Delmar DivINe. Doors will open at 5:15 p.m. with the program running from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on both evenings. Each workshop will begin with a short presentation introducing the draft zoning map, followed by small-group discussions facilitated by members of the ZOUP team. Interested individuals can register to attend on the ZOUP website.

For those unable to attend in person, a virtual "Code Connect" meeting will be held on April 1st via Zoom. Don Roe, Executive Director of Planning & Urban Design Agency, explains that updating their zoning code is about creating a better future for St. Louis and these workshops are designed to give residents a hands-on opportunity to provide feedback before moving forward with the next phase.
During the workshops, participants will engage in discussions focused on how the draft zoning districts support neighborhood needs, clarity and usability of the code, transitions between districts, and overall alignment with adopted plans. The focus areas for each workshop will represent varied neighborhood contexts, corridor types, and transition points across the city.
All residents are encouraged to attend one or all workshops in order to review materials, talk with the project team, and share their feedback. The ZOUP team hopes to gather thoughtful feedback on the draft map and development standards in order to refine them before moving forward with the next phase of the process.
For more information about ZOUP: The Zoning Upgrade Project, interested individuals can visit their website or contact them via email or phone. The team is committed to creating a zoning code that reflects the needs and goals of the St. Louis community and encourages all residents to participate in this important process.
