City of Spokane, Spokane Public Schools Partner to Expand Childcare Access

~ As the demand for affordable and high-quality childcare continues to rise in Spokane, the City of Spokane and Spokane Public Schools have joined forces to launch a new pilot program. The goal of this partnership is to increase access to early learning opportunities for young children in the community.

The pilot program will initially be implemented at three locations: Balboa Elementary, Whitman Elementary, and the Garland Center. The City is taking the lead in identifying and partnering with qualified childcare providers to operate services within these spaces.

The pilot program is set to begin in fall 2026, with plans for future expansion into additional schools, neighborhoods, and partnerships with more childcare providers through a formal Request for Proposals (RFP) process.
