City of Mesa Swears in New District 2 Councilmember

~ At a special City Council meeting on Monday, Nov. 17, Mesa Mayor Mark Freeman officially swore in Dorean Taylor as the new District 2 Councilmember. This comes after the Nov. 4 special election, which was triggered by a successful recall petition for the District 2 seat.

During the meeting, Mayor Freeman expressed his gratitude to the voters of District 2 for participating in the special election and welcomed Councilmember Taylor to her new role. He also emphasized his excitement to continue working with the City Council and City leadership to elevate Mesa and address important community priorities such as public safety, strong neighborhoods, economic opportunity, education, and workforce development.

Councilmember Taylor brings nearly two decades of residency in Mesa and a background in business analysis, project management, and process improvement to her new position. As a small business owner, she is committed to ensuring excellent public safety services, maintaining infrastructure, addressing homelessness, and supporting policies that keep Mesa affordable for families.

"I am honored to have the confidence and trust of District 2 residents," said Councilmember Taylor. "I will continue to prioritize accountability, fiscal responsibility, and preserving Mesa's long-standing community values."

Councilmember Taylor will serve out the remainder of the four-year term through January of 2029. With her experience and dedication to serving her community, she is sure to make a positive impact on Mesa's future.
