City of Long Beach Facilities and Services Schedule for Christmas Day and New Year's Day

Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - As the holiday season approaches, the City of Long Beach has announced its schedule for Christmas Day and New Year's Day in 2025 and 2026. In observance of these holidays, certain city facilities and services will have adjusted operating hours.

On Christmas Eve, December 24th, and New Year's Eve, December 31st, all city facilities and services will operate on their normal schedules unless otherwise specified. However, on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, the following changes will be in effect.

City parks and trails (excluding El Dorado Nature Center), fire stations, lifeguard stations, Long Beach Airport, Main Police Station Front Desk, Gas Services Dispatch (562.570.2140), Water/Sewer Dispatch (562.570.2390), and emergency animal control services will all remain open on both Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

El Dorado East Regional Park will be closed on Christmas Day but open on New Year's Day.

The Billie Jean King Main Library, all branch libraries (including library offices), BizCare Hotline (562.570.4BIZ), Building and Safety services (including the Permit Center), City Hall, city-operated pools, City Prosecutor's Office, Code Enforcement services, Economic Development & Opportunity's Long Beach Workforce Innovation Network Adult and Youth Career Services Centers, El Dorado Nature Center, Energy and Environmental Services offices, Fire Headquarters (Support Services/Fire Prevention & Operations/Marine Safety Administration), Health Department and Health facilities, Homeless Services Outreach Line (562.570.4672), Housing Authority offices, Long Beach Airport Administration Offices,

Long Beach Animal Care Services and spcaLA (also closed Monday Dec. 22nd/Tuesday Dec. 23rd as well as Monday Dec. 29th/Tuesday Dec. 30th per their normal operating schedule), Long Beach Utilities Offices,

Marina offices (Alamitos Bay Marina/Shoreline Marina), Mobile Access Centers, Neighborhood Resource Center, Parks, Recreation and Marine programs and community park facilities, Refuse and Recycling collection and Administrative Offices, Special Events and Filming Offices, Street sweeping, and Towing and Lien Sales will all be closed on both Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

City Hall offices and public services will also be closed on both holidays. This includes commercial services typically available at City Hall such as the Permit Center (located on the 2nd floor), Cashiering/Payment Processing, Utility Customer Service, Billing and Collections, and Parking Citations. The public is encouraged to utilize the convenient online resources available on the City website for building permit services and bill payment options.

There will be no scheduled street sweeping or enforcement of street sweeping violations on Christmas Day or New Year's Day. Street sweeping will resume its regular schedule on Friday December 26th and Friday January 2nd.

Citywide parking violations, including parking meters, will be enforced on Christmas Day and New Year's Day unless otherwise stated on the meter. The days and hours of enforcement are displayed inside the meters.

There will be no scheduled refuse and recycling collection on Christmas Day or New Year's Day. Collection will resume its regular schedule on Friday December 26th and Friday January 2nd.

The Towing Operations and Vehicle Storage Facility (3111 E. Willow St., between Temple Avenue and Redondo Avenue) will also be closed on both holidays. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed Sundays and holidays. Vehicles can still be released outside of these hours for an additional fee.

All Long Beach Public Library locations will close at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve (December 24th)and New Year's Eve (December 31st). All locations and the main phone line will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Normal operations will resume on Friday December 26th and Friday January 2nd. Library patrons are encouraged to utilize the Library's digital resources, including the catalog, downloads, and databases, available 24/7.

The Energy and Environmental Services Department is offering its annual Holiday Treecycling program for Long Beach residents. From Friday December 26th through Friday January 9th, residents can drop off their used trees at one of thirteen designated locations throughout the city at no charge.
