City of Idaho Falls to collect donations for Community Food Basket during Parade

IDAHO FALLS ~ Idaho Falls residents are gearing up for a festive Independence Day celebration at the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce's Liberty on Parade. As the community comes together to commemorate this special day, Mayor Rebecca Casper and the City Council are once again urging everyone to show their support for a worthy cause - the Community Food Basket.

On Friday, July 4, 2025, Mayor Casper, members of the City Council, and a team of volunteers will be collecting monetary donations along the parade route. Instead of canned food items, they will be accepting cash and digital contributions through Venmo. To make it even more convenient for donors, volunteers will also be distributing flyers featuring the Community Food Basket's "Most Needed Items" list and a QR code that links directly to their Venmo account.

According to Mayor Casper, the Fourth of July is not only a time for celebration but also an opportunity to showcase the best of who we are as a community. By supporting the Community Food Basket, residents can not only enjoy the parade but also make a meaningful impact in ensuring that families in Idaho Falls have access to basic necessities. "That's something worth celebrating," she added.

This year, Mayor Casper and her team will be accompanied by volunteers as they travel along the parade route in style - on a vintage fire truck provided by Farr's Candy. The executive director of Community Food Basket - Idaho Falls, Ariel Jackson expressed her gratitude towards the city for their continuous support. "Community support is what keeps our shelves stocked and our doors open," she said. Jackson also highlighted how even small donations can make a big difference - with just $1 being able to provide $4.80 worth of food for a family of four.

The Liberty on Parade event will kick off at 9 am on Friday morning near Idaho Falls High School. The parade route will take participants down 4th Street and then south on Boulevard before ending at Tautphaus Park. Residents are encouraged to join in the festivities and take this opportunity to support their neighbors in need.
