City of Columbia calls for artwork for Commemorative Poster

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The Office of Cultural Affairs has announced that they are now accepting applications for the annual City of Columbia Commemorative Poster. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. on Monday, March 16. The chosen artist will receive a $1,000 award and their artwork will be reproduced for the poster. The poster will then be unveiled at the Celebration of the Arts event later this year.
This year's theme for the poster is the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Artists are encouraged to submit designs that commemorate this milestone while also showcasing Columbia's local history and promoting civic pride and optimism for the future.

The design must include the words "Columbia, MO" or "Columbia, Missouri" as well as "America 250". These can either be incorporated by the artist into their submission or added digitally by the City's graphic design team on the final poster.
The selected design will be chosen by the mayor and will be displayed locally and nationally. It will also be published in both print and digital books. The official poster will also be available for purchase throughout the year.
In addition to being featured locally, this year's City of Columbia Commemorative Poster will also be submitted to the America 250 City Art Poster Project. This project is being administered by the U.S. Conference of Mayors in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
