City of Bloomington Announces 14th Annual Eco-Heroes Art Contest to Celebrate Our Nature at Night

~ Bloomington, IN - The Bloomington Environmental Commission has announced the launch of the 14th Annual Linda P. Thompson Eco-Heroes Art Contest. This highly anticipated event aims to encourage residents of all ages to explore the importance of native insects through artistic expression.
The theme for this year's contest is "Our Nature at Night," inviting participants to delve into the fascinating world that comes alive after sunset. The commission is calling for entries in five categories: Pre-K to 2nd grade, 3rd to 5th grade, 6th to 8th grade, 9th to 12th grade, and adults (ages 18+).
Participants are encouraged to submit their artwork in a variety of creative formats, including 2D visual art such as drawings, paintings, and photography; 3D visual art like sculptures, fiber art, and metalwork; digital media such as graphic design and videos; performance art including songs, raps, and plays/skits; and language arts such as essays and poems.

Submissions will be accepted between March 17 at 8 a.m. and April 7 at 5 p.m. Those who incorporate recycled or reused materials into their artwork will receive extra recognition from the commission.
Physical submissions can be delivered to Bloomington City Hall at Suite 130 on North Morton Street while digital submissions can be emailed. Each entry must include the artist's name, grade and school (if applicable), contact information including phone number and email address, and a completed entry form available online at bton.in/ecohero.
The winners will be announced during the Eco-Heroes Award Ceremony on April 18 at Switchyard Park during the city's Earth Day celebration. The event will begin at 1:15 p.m. The Environmental Commission welcomes donations from local businesses, entrepreneurs, and residents to support this event.
