Children's Book Grayson, Come Back! Teaches Emotional Regulation Skills at School

New children's book by Stephen C. Lynn introduces simple coping strategies for big emotions.
HUNTINGTOWN, Md. - Rezul -- Blue House Books announces the release of Grayson, Come Back!, a children's picture book by Stephen C. Lynn that helps children and the adults supporting them navigate overwhelming emotions at school.
Inspired by real experiences and rooted in social emotional learning, the story follows Grayson, a bright and energetic child who enjoys science, ocean animals, and recess. Like many children, however, he sometimes encounters moments that feel bigger than he can handle. When frustration builds quickly, he runs from class, the lunchroom, or the gym, illustrating a form of school elopement many families and educators recognize.
Grayson, Come Back! explores these moments in a supportive and constructive way. Instead of scolding or reacting with urgency, teachers help Grayson slow down, breathe, count to ten, and ask for help when he needs it.
Through familiar school-based scenarios, the book introduces practical emotional regulation strategies that readers can reinforce in everyday settings, including taking deep breaths, counting to ten, asking for help, and taking a break when emotions feel overwhelming.

As the story progresses, Grayson begins to make meaningful progress. In one pivotal moment during P.E., he falls and feels the same frustration that once caused him to run. This time, he asks for help instead, showing how growth can happen through practice, patience, and support.
"Many children want to do the right thing but struggle when emotions feel overwhelming," said author Stephen C. Lynn. "This book helps them see that big feelings are normal and that there are tools and people who can help them through those moments."
Grayson, Come Back! is written for children who struggle with emotional regulation, including those with autism and ADHD. It also serves as a helpful conversation starter for parents, teachers, counselors, and school staff, while supporting conversations in classrooms, counseling settings, and at home.
The book is available in hardcover, paperback, and ebook formats through major retailers including Amazon, as well as through wholesale distribution channels used by bookstores, schools, and libraries. Readers can learn more at http://www.bhbooksllc.com.
