Rezul News/10734115
~ The Tacoma City Council and the City's Events and Recognitions Committee (CERC) have announced that they will be hosting the annual City of Destiny Awards on May 6, 2026 at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall. This free community event is open to all members of the community and media.
The purpose of this event is to recognize and honor outstanding volunteers, leaders, and organizations in Tacoma who have made a lasting impact on the community through their service and dedication. This year's ceremony will honor nine individuals and one group in various categories such as leadership, equity and empowerment, environmental sustainability, disability advocacy, economic development, and lifetime service. A full list of awardees can be found on tacomavenues.org.
The evening will begin with a Community Showcase and reception at 5:30 p.m., where guests can engage with organizations connected to this year's honorees, enjoy complimentary refreshments, and participate in community activities. The awards ceremony will commence at 7 p.m., with Tacoma Mayor Anders Ibsen and members of the City Council presenting the awards alongside CERC.
