British Gemmologist Launches Private Sri Lanka Gemstone Experiences
Rezul News/10742006
Gemstone Detective offers discerning travellers rare, expert-led access to the people and places behind Sri Lanka's gem trade.
SOUTH WOODFORD, U.K. - Rezul -- Gemstone Detective founder Kim Rix is launching a series of privately hosted gemstone experiences in Sri Lanka for travellers seeking expert access to one of the world's most celebrated gem-producing regions.
From November 2026, Rix will be based in Sri Lanka for several months, personally hosting individuals and couples who want to look beyond the finished gemstone and understand the people, places and decisions behind it.
Each experience will be shaped around the interests of the guest rather than following a fixed tourist itinerary. Depending on access, location and individual preferences, an experience may include meetings with trusted gemstone traders, cutters and miners, visits to working markets and mining areas, opportunities to examine rough and cut stones, and insight into how provenance, quality, value and trust operate within the trade.

The experiences are designed for jewellery lovers, collectors and discerning travellers who want specialist guidance and meaningful access that would be difficult to arrange independently.
"These are not conventional sightseeing tours or shopping excursions," said Rix. "The aim is to give guests a more personal and informed connection with Sri Lanka's gemstone world, while helping them understand what happens before a stone reaches a jeweller or collector."
Sri Lanka has a gemstone history extending over many centuries and remains internationally known for sapphires and a wide range of coloured gemstones. Yet much of the working trade remains largely unseen by visitors.
Rix brings together professional gemmological knowledge, long-standing industry relationships, authorship and photography. She is a GIA Graduate Gemmologist, the creator of the Gemstone Detective book series and served for seven years as official photographer for the Scottish Gemmological Association.
The new experiences position Gemstone Detective at the intersection of specialist travel, jewellery, craftsmanship, cultural heritage and provenance. They are intended to complement a wider Sri Lanka journey rather than replace the services of a travel organiser.

Private experiences will be available on selected dates from November 2026 and will be discussed individually with each prospective guest.
