On Tuesday, March 17, the Boston Transportation Department will facilitate temporary parking restrictions as directed by the Mayor's Office of Tourism, Sports and Entertainment for a reenactment of part of Evacuation Day. This event commemorates the 250th anniversary of when Henry Knox transported 59 cannons from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston in 1776.

The event will include a rolling rally type of parade starting from West Sixth Street onto Dorchester Street, then onto Telegraph Street before ending at Thomas Park near Pacific Street. Parking restrictions will be in effect throughout Tuesday on Thomas Park (both sides from Pacific Street to National Street), Dorchester Street (north side from West Fifth Street to West Sixth Street), and West Sixth Street (both sides from F Street to Dorchester Street).

For those attending these events, it is encouraged to use alternative modes of transportation such as walking, biking, or taking public transit. Information on Bluebikes, the regional bike share service, can be found on their website and information on the MBTA can be found online. The MBTA also advises riders to purchase a round-trip ticket for a faster return trip.

Walking is also a great way to move around and enjoy these events. With proper planning and cooperation from all attendees, these events are sure to be successful and enjoyable for everyone involved.
