~ Boston City Council Recognizes Public Works Employees for Efforts During Winter Storms
In the midst of a winter season that has brought an above-average amount of snowfall, the Boston City Council has recognized the hard work and dedication of Public Works employees. The Council adopted a resolution, offered by Councilors Pepen, Durkan, and Culpepper, to acknowledge the efforts of these employees during recent snowstorm emergencies.
Since the beginning of winter, Boston has received over 60 inches of snow, with much of it falling during two major storms in late January and late February. These storms put the city's ability to manage heavy snow to the test.

Despite these challenges, Public Works employees worked tirelessly day and night to clear and remove snow from streets. Code Enforcement officers also played a crucial role in ensuring that property owners fulfilled their responsibility to clear sidewalks. These tasks were carried out in low visibility and while operating heavy machinery, putting employees at risk for safety.
The adopted resolution expresses the Council's gratitude towards the Boston Public Works Department for their unwavering commitment to keeping the city's streets and sidewalks safe during these winter storms. Their hard work has made Boston cleaner and more navigable for its residents.
