BookBuzz Interviews Author Daniela Hristova About Her New Memoir – Fluent in Faux Pas
Rezul News/10745454
NEW YORK - Rezul -- In a lively and candid BookBuzz interview, Fluent in Faux Pas author Daniela Hristova shares how arriving in the UK with barely enough English to order a cup of tea led to countless language mishaps, unexpected adventures, and eventually a memoir. She talks about starting over, learning to laugh at herself, her surprising journey from journalism and acting to court security, and the role faith played in changing her life. Filled with humor, honesty, and a few lessons learned the hard way, the interview introduces readers to the remarkable real-life experiences behind Fluent in Faux Pas.
What inspired you to write your first book?
Let's be honest: I was a walking, talking sitcom waiting to happen.
Arriving in an English-speaking environment with a vocabulary no bigger than the words on a tea bag meant every attempt to overcome the language barrier felt like high-stakes acrobatics—and provided free, front-row entertainment for everyone watching.

That experience inspired me to write this book. I realised that instead of hiding my mistakes, I wanted to celebrate the absurdity, courage, and stubborn determination it takes to start over in a new language.
My goal was not only to make people laugh—although turning as red as a tomato happened often enough—but also to show how our biggest linguistic disasters can create unexpected connections. Sometimes the moments we are most embarrassed by become the stories that bring people together.
Ultimately, I wanted readers to step away from the grey of everyday life, share a smile, and remember that humour does more than make life lighter—it reminds us that we are all wonderfully imperfect human beings.

Daniela Hristova is a former multimedia journalist, actress, and singer whose professional journey has taken her through television, radio, newspapers, the stage, leadership, and court security. After moving to the United Kingdom with very limited English, she discovered that adapting to a new language and culture could be frustrating, humbling, and unexpectedly funny. Drawing from those experiences, she wrote Fluent in Faux Pas, her debut memoir about starting over, making mistakes, finding courage, and learning to laugh along the way. When she is not writing or tackling a new adventure, she enjoys spending time with her family and her dog, Dea.
