Bestselling Author Defends The AI Technology Used To Steal His Novel

Bestselling author, JAMES HOUSTON TURNER, a victim of AI theft, talks about AI technology and why he embraces it ... with caution.
AUSTIN, Texas - Rezul -- James Houston Turner is no stranger to AI theft after a corporate giant stole the text of his acclaimed novel, Dragon Head, to train its AI systems to write fiction. "It was a crime, plain and simple," says Turner, who is quick to distinguish between the technology itself and those who misuse it. "AI is a useful tool," he continues, "which is why I'm using it to promote my latest action thriller, Into the Eye, a contemporary novel set in central Africa against a backdrop of human trafficking."
To bring the story to life, Turner used AI to create a series of cinematic trailers to introduce the novel's characters, themes, and high-stakes conflict. Set in war-torn regions of Africa, the trailers highlight the fight against the monstrous crime of trafficking while drawing viewers into that world. In writing and producing his trailers, Turner drew upon filmmaking skills he developed while producing his first feature film, Square Pegs.

With Into the Eye, Turner has crafted a timely thriller about a tactical team's efforts to dismantle a global conspiracy. The cinematic trailers add visual depth and emotional impact to a story that could have been lifted from today's headlines about trafficking and the powerful people who profit from it. A former journalist and Bible smuggler behind the Iron Curtain, Turner pulls no punches when his fictional plot implicates members of Washington's political elite in what he calls a crime against humanity.
In the latest installment of his series, the story's hero, Aleksandr Talanov, finds himself stranded in Africa after a rescue mission is betrayed and he is abandoned and left for dead. As a result, a desperate recovery operation is launched to bring him home. Determined to join the mission is Talanov's love interest, Larisa, who refuses to be sidelined despite the efforts of mission officials to stop her. Also playing a critical role is Talanov's adopted daughter, Jingfei, whose formidable hacking skills are an integral part of the plot.

"Every book in the Talanov series is framed around a love story put at risk by Talanov's former or current enemies," he explains, "and not every book has a happy ending. Triumphant – yes – but triumph at a cost. There are also elements of faith, but not the sanitized church-service kind, but the raw kind of faith one discovers while in the trenches."
Turner confesses he sees a future for AI storytelling through his production company, Ruby Rock Films, and his trailers are available on his @jameshoustonturner YouTube channel.
