~ Mesa Community College (MCC) has recently announced that they will be accepting online applications for the Mesa College Promise program for the 2026-2027 academic year. This successful program, which was launched in 2021, is a partnership between the City of Mesa, MCC, and the corporate sector. It aims to provide two years of tuition and fees at MCC for eligible high school graduates from Mesa in 2026, as well as adults who are 25 years or older.
According to Mesa Mayor Mark Freeman, the Mesa College Promise has been a valuable resource for connecting residents of Mesa to higher education and career opportunities. As someone who personally benefited from education at MCC, Mayor Freeman understands the transformative impact it can have on an individual's future. He believes that by working together, they are building a stronger workforce for tomorrow.
The program is open to current high school students residing in Mesa who are on track to earn a diploma from any public, private, charter, online or home school. This also includes those who have received a state-accredited GED. Graduates who earned their diploma or GED after January 1st, 2021 are also eligible to apply.

The main goal of the program is to provide financial support to students with demonstrated financial need who have not received enough FAFSA funds or other scholarships to cover their college expenses. To be eligible for this support, students must have a high school GPA of 2.0 or higher and be committed to taking at least 12 credit hours per semester. They must also be residents of Mesa.
In addition to high school graduates, adults aged 25 and older who reside in Mesa can also apply for the program by meeting certain requirements. These include demonstrating financial need through FAFSA completion and supporting documentation, having earned a high school diploma or GED, not having previously attended college or only having some college experience without a degree, and enrolling at MCC with a minimum of 6 credits as a degree or certificate-seeking student in an eligible program of study.
MCC President Dr. Richard Daniel expressed his enthusiasm for the Mesa College Promise program, stating that it was created to make higher education more accessible to Mesa residents. He encourages community members to apply and experience how education can open doors and change lives for the better.
