Annual Rec Rally & Heart Festival Brings Free School Supplies, Resources and Activities

Connecting Port Wentworth families with the supplies, services, and support they need for a successful school year

PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. - Rezul -- The City of Port Wentworth's Recreation Department, in partnership with Mayor Pro Tem Gabrielle Nelson, will host its annual Rec Rally, featuring The Heart Festival, on Saturday, July 11, 2026. The free, family friendly event is designed to equip families in the community with the tools, supplies, and support they need to start the school year strong.

Free school supplies will be the focal point of the day, available while they last, with children required to be present to receive supplies. As Port Wentworth continues to grow, the Rec Rally also connects residents with the wide range of resources available across Chatham County. Local businesses and community organizations will be onsite, giving families the chance to connect directly with the services available to them. With so many families feeling the impact of recent funding cuts, organizers say the event has become an important way to educate the community about the resources still available.

This year's Rec Rally will be packed with family fun, including water slides, and opportunities for community involvement. The Recreation Department will provide free hot dogs and Coca-Cola will be providing free drinks for attendees.
