American College of Culinary Medicine Names New President

The American College of Culinary Medicine (ACCM) has named Jaclyn Albin, MD, CCMS, as its next President, marking a new chapter for nation's leading professional organization dedicated to advancing culinary medicine.
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Rezul -- The American College of Culinary Medicine (ACCM) has named Jaclyn Albin, MD, CCMS, as its next President, marking a new chapter for nation's leading professional organization dedicated to advancing culinary medicine and food-first nutrition in healthcare.
Dr. Albin brings nearly two decades of leadership in culinary medicine, spanning interprofessional education, clinical care, research, and health system innovation.
"The choice of the ACCM's leadership to take the organization into the next decade of our growth is critically important" said current ACCM president, Dr. Timothy Harlan. "It is clear that helping our patients be healthier through food has now become a significant part of the practice of medicine, and the ACCM has been at the forefront of education and certification of healthcare professionals. As we continue to grow, having Dr. Albin's leadership is critical to the health of our community. Dr. Albin's expertise is a boon to patients everywhere."
Dr. Albin is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Public Health at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) and a nationally recognized leader in culinary medicine, food as medicine, and nutrition education. A board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, she co-founded and directs UTSW's Culinary Medicine Program. She also serves as Medical Director of Food is Medicine Innovation at Parkland Health's Center for Innovation and Value, helping develop strategies that address nutrition security and integrate food-based interventions into clinical care.
Throughout her career, Dr. Albin has focused on building practical bridges between nutrition science, healthcare delivery, community partnership, and medical education. She co-developed one of the first Culinary Medicine Clinical Service Lines in the United States alongside Milette Siler, RDN, LD, CCMS, integrating reimbursable culinary medicine consultations and group medical visits into patient care. Their work has helped demonstrate how culinary medicine can move beyond the classroom and become a sustainable component of innovation in healthcare practice.

A passionate educator and advocate for interprofessional collaboration, Dr. Albin has led nutrition and culinary medicine initiatives across undergraduate medical education, graduate medical education, continuing professional development, and community programming. In 2026, Dr. Albin was elected Chair of the Texas Nutrition Advisory Committee and was recognized by both the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the national Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for her contributions to advancing nutrition education and interprofessional collaboration. Her scholarship, teaching, and advocacy have contributed to the growing recognition of culinary medicine as an essential strategy for improving patient outcomes and strengthening healthcare teams.
"Culinary medicine has grown from a promising innovation into a powerful movement that connects healthcare, education, culinary arts, public health, and communities. I am deeply grateful to Dr. Timothy Harlan, whose vision and leadership helped establish the foundation for this field and created a home for professionals passionate about the role of food in health. I am excited to help lead ACCM during this next chapter as we work to make evidence-based nutrition education and culinary medicine a permanent and expected part of healthcare training and patient care. As President, Dr. Albin will work closely with the ACCM Advisory Board to expand the organization's strategic priorities, including expansion of the robust Health meets Food curriculum, strengthening the evidence base for culinary medicine in education and practice, expanding interprofessional collaboration, and improving access to practical nutrition support for patients and communities.

Dr. Albin joins an established team of professionals in leading the organization and advancing ACCM's role as a national leader in culinary medicine. Through education, research, and community engagement, ACCM has fostered a growing network of physicians, dietitians, chefs, foodservice professionals, community educators, and other health professionals committed to advancing food-first approaches to health. These efforts are advanced through certification programs for medical professionals, chefs, and foodservice professionals alongside continuing education conferences and hot topic roundtables. Under Dr. Albin's leadership, ACCM will continue expanding opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and impact while advancing the integration of culinary medicine into healthcare and health professions education nationwide.
