Visions Museum of Textile Art Presents ARTwear Exhibition Celebrating Innovation in Wearable Fiber
Rezul News/10720479
SAN DIEGO - Rezul -- The Visions Museum of Textile Art (VMOTA) proudly announces the opening of ARTwear, an exhibition showcasing innovative, original artwork designed to be worn on the body. Created from fiber and textile materials and constructed using traditional and contemporary fiber techniques, the exhibition is on view now through Jan. 31, 2026, at VMOTA in Arts District Liberty Station.
ARTwear originated as a print exhibition featured in the Fall 2024 issue of Fiber Art Now and was juried by the publication's creative team. Fiber Art Now serves as a global community and resource for contemporary fiber and textile artists, celebrating the evolution and diversity of the medium.
"Each piece of art in this ARTwear exhibition captures an artist's unique expression on the human form," said Lori Butanis, creative director at Fiber Art Now. "We intentionally curated our print exhibition with varied works that we hope will surprise viewers and inspire their own creations. We looked for materials and techniques we hadn't seen before—taking us on a trip we haven't yet been on and pushing boundaries we didn't know were there."

VMOTA curated a select group of works from the juried collection, highlighting sustainability, creativity, and innovation. The featured pieces represent the exceptional talents of artists from Canada, Turkey, and the United States, each exploring the possibilities of wearable art through texture, form, and material. "Moving the pieces from print to gallery, viewers are able to come close to appreciate the fibers and details in a more intimate way," commented VMOTA's Executive Director, Katrina Bruins.
The exhibition invites the public to experience the vibrancy and ingenuity of textile art firsthand. ARTwear is open during regular museum hours, and admission is free with a suggested donation. Learn more at https://vmota.org/artwear/
