Toronto - Canadian EV project Maple Majestic withdraws support for EV Mandates

Rezul News/10698262
Amidst increased consumer backlash toward Electric Vehicles, Canada's flagship brand of EVs Maple Majestic (currently in development), withdraws support for Electric Vehicle Mandates. Maple Majestic remains firmly committed to the development and production of world-class Electric Vehicles from Canada, for the global market, adding Extended Range Electric Vehicles (EREVs) into the product development line-up.

TORONTO - Rezul -- Toronto-based AK Motor International Corporation, is developing the Maple Majestic Electric Vehicle as Canada's flagship brand of automobiles.  Maple Majestic is withdrawing its support for Electric Vehicle Mandates imposed by the Canadian Federal Government.  Maple Majestic has identified that the EV Mandates are ironically causing significant consumer backlash against Electric Vehicles, resulting in no choice but to formally withdraw support for the EV Mandates.  From Maple Majestic's perspective, the Canadian Federal Government would serve Canada much better by supporting "Made in Canada" automobile start-up companies rather than Mandating Electric Vehicles or subsidizing American and other foreign automobile brands.  Maple Majestic remains firmly committed to the development and production of world class Electric Vehicles from Canada, for the global market, adding Extended Range Electric Vehicles (EREVs) back into the product development line-up.

The Maple Majestic project was started in 2018 out of concerns for the future of Canada's auto industry when a major American automobile manufacturer's Canadian factory was shuttered in the city of Oshawa.  It was obvious at the time that the Canadian Automobile Industry needed to make significant changes, and to pivot away from its excessive reliance on the American "Big Three" car companies.  Instead, the Canadian Government did the unthinkable, by spending over 30 billion dollars (CAD) on subsidizing American car companies and other foreign manufacturers.  With the mandated transition to Electric Vehicles, it would have been an ideal opportunity for the Canadian Government to also support the creation of Canada's very own EV brand of automobiles.  Inexplicably, they chose to spend absolutely zero dollars on supporting Canadian Start-Ups planning to build Electric Automobiles.  The Canadian Federal Government wouldn't even engage in dialogue with start-up projects like Maple Majestic.  As a direct result, there isn't a single Canadian brand of Electric Vehicles on the roads today, when even countries like Vietnam are excelling in EV production.  Every Canadian needs to understand this.

In the ensuing years since 2018, there was a tremendous push towards the production of foreign Electric Vehicle brands in Canada by the Canadian Federal Government, including massive subsidies for foreign manufacturers, funded by devastatingly crushing Carbon Taxes on Canadians, and the adoption of the Electric Vehicle Availability Standard which aims to mandate 100% Electric Vehicle sales in Canada by 2035.  The entire Canadian auto industry, (including the world-class Parts Manufacturers), was pressured and coerced by the Canadian Federal Government to support the exclusive production of Electric Vehicles.  Even Maple Majestic abandoned its uniquely innovative EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) plans to focus just on Electric Vehicles.

According to the Maple Majestic founder Arkadiusz Kaminski, "The EV Mandates play a big role in consumer resistance to the adoption of Electric Vehicles, and the consumers aren't wrong.  I spent my childhood in a communist country before coming to Canada.  At a very young age, I've seen first-hand, the unspeakable darkness that totalitarian socialist governments are capable of when they try to control every aspect of people's lives.  The Canadian Government's EV Mandates fall squarely within the penumbra of that shadow.  EV Mandates would force Canadians to drive Electric Vehicles, which are ill-equipped to deal with the dangers of Canadian winters.  The Canadian Government knows full well that driving in vast parts of Canada in the winter months is a matter of life and death, yet they pushed EV Mandates with the same zeal as they did Carbon Taxes.  Carbon Taxes, and EV Mandates are two sides of the same coin.  The practice is disingenuous at best, dangerous, and economically ruinous for Canada.  With the rising wave of consumer backlash against EVs, the Electric Vehicle Mandates only serve to drive away private investment, which is much needed to continue the drive towards future EV innovations.  Canadians want to do their part for the environment, but not by risking their lives."

Arkadiusz Kaminski continues, "Maple Majestic has a very clever new solution for addressing Range Anxiety issues in winter conditions, but the brand will also embrace the EREV solution for some of its models.  A highly efficient, small Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) for charging the EV Battery needs to be an option for Canada's harsh climate.  Full stop.  We're here to develop world-class Canadian cars not just for Canada, but also for the rest of the world, and especially countries with a similar climate.  We cannot accept the Canadian Federal Government restricting us from using ICE engines when that is an integral part of the life support system in winter conditions.  We're building something that Canadians will be proud of, and that will inspire investor support, but we need the Canadian Government to be a partner in such a project.  Government support is needed not just for investor confidence, but also to incentivise Canada's Parts Suppliers to work with us.  With the spectre of tariffs, Canada's parts suppliers are in the same position they were in back in 2018, as if all the lessons from Oshawa were forgotten.  Soon we will face a Brain-Drain like never before as Canada's Parts Suppliers move to the United States.  You can't blame them for wanting to get off the roller-coaster that is the Canadian Auto Industry.  Only through a cooperation between Canadian car company start-ups like Maple Majestic, the Canadian Government and the Parts Suppliers, in the development of Canadian Cars for the world market, can Canada's Auto Industry find long-term stability and prosperity."

Arkadiusz Kaminski concludes, "In closing, it may come as a surprise, but in principle, I am actually not a supporter of governments funding private enterprise.  However, I am also not blind to the realities of the modern automotive industry, where practically every automotive manufacturer receives government support.  How do you compete with that?  Investors want to see government support before they invest in major automotive projects, and I don't blame them.  If the Canadian Federal Government spent even 1% on Canadian car start-ups, of the 30 billion dollars they spent subsidizing foreign car companies, there would already be Canadian cars on the roads today.  The opportunity is still there, waiting to be seized by a true political leader.  This challenge is the great calling of our time, for Canada's future Federal Government.  I hope they rise to the occasion.  Better late than never."
