TCVG Clinicians Bring Vascular Health Education to Communities Across Massachusetts
Rezul News/10733351
Dr. Ammar Humayun and Lori Sluss, NP, engage local seniors through educational outreach
BURLINGTON, Mass. - Rezul -- The Vascular Care Group (TVCG), the nation's largest independent group of board-certified vascular specialists, continues its commitment to advancing awareness of vascular disease and promoting earlier diagnosis and treatment to help preserve both life and limb.
Vascular conditions such as peripheral artery disease (PAD) are frequently underdiagnosed, particularly among high-risk and underserved populations. When left untreated, vascular disease can progress to chronic pain, non-healing wounds, limb loss, and serious cardiovascular events. Despite these risks, screening and early detection remain underutilized nationwide.
Through ongoing community education initiatives, TVCG works to improve public understanding of vascular health, encourage timely evaluation, and connect patients with effective treatment options proven to significantly improve outcomes.
As part of this effort, TVCG recently conducted multiple educational sessions across Massachusetts led by physicians and advanced practice providers. These sessions provide attendees with information about vascular disease prevention, warning signs, and modern treatment options.

Dr. Ammar Humayun presented to a large group of seniors at the Oxford Senior Center, focusing on carotid artery disease and stroke prevention. His presentation highlighted common risk factors, early warning signs, and the importance of prompt evaluation and intervention.
"Carotid disease is a significant contributor to stroke risk, yet many patients are unaware of the warning signs until it becomes serious," said Dr. Humayun. "Community education allows us to reach patients earlier and help them understand when to seek care."
In a separate initiative, Lori Sluss, NP, presented at the Concord Council on Aging, providing education on a range of vascular conditions, including PAD, carotid artery stenosis, aneurysmal disease, and venous disease. Her presentation addressed prevention strategies, symptom recognition, and advanced outpatient treatment options.
Sluss also discussed innovative minimally invasive procedures, including Genicular Artery Embolization (GAE), an emerging treatment for chronic knee pain.
"Many vascular conditions develop gradually and are often misunderstood or overlooked," said Sluss. "By helping patients recognize symptoms early, we can connect them to care sooner and improve long-term outcomes."
