Adding to the ranch's rich history is a charming story about the local school in Brad, which was about a quarter mile south of US 180. Ranch kids would ride their horses to school, stopping at the halfway point at Sheep Dip Spring, located on the ranch. Ranchers had built a concrete water tank at the spring, dated 1934, which still exists today, though the spring now runs separately from the tank.
