Changenaire announces the release of Rebuilding Justice: An Employment-Based House Arrest Story of Redemption, a 45-chapter novel by Ihuoma C. Onwunali, available now. The book follows Marcus Hill, 19, who is offered a harder road than prison: keep working, keep contributing, and earn his way back under structure instead of behind bars.
The novel introduces the Employment-Based House Arrest (EBHA) idea at the heart of the story: a sentence served through work, accountability, and forced savings, rather than incarceration that fractures families and costs taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars a year per person. The story asks readers to rethink what justice should do for people who have not committed violent or sexual offenses — and what it costs all of us when it does not.
"It's all about recognizing that a nonviolent mistake can be an all-around mutually beneficial opportunity: to use the power of punishment to give someone a second chance, with built-in structure that actually creates a better and healthier person after paying for the mistake or being punished," said Ihuoma C. Onwunali.
