Proposed Federal Legislation Could Eliminate 30% Solar Tax Credit NJ Homeowners May Have Just Six Mo
Rezul News/10706689
Proposed legislation could abruptly eliminate the 30% federal solar tax credit — leaving New Jersey homeowners with just six months to install solar panels and save.
MIDDLETOWN, N.J. - Rezul -- Green Sun Energy Services, LLC is urging New Jersey homeowners to act immediately following the release of the Senate's latest draft of the "Big Beautiful Bill," which proposes to terminate the 30% Federal Residential Solar Tax Credit (Section 25D) within six months of the bill's passage — nearly a decade earlier than previously scheduled.
"This is a pivotal moment for homeowners considering solar," said Glen Koedding, President of Green Sun Energy Services. "If this bill passes as drafted, the 30% credit will vanish almost overnight. That's a loss of $7,000 or more for the average customer."
The 30% federal tax credit, which was extended under the Inflation Reduction Act and set to remain in place through 2034, has helped millions of Americans reduce their solar installation costs. The current proposal would cut that window short — ending the incentive entirely unless homeowners install and pay for their systems within six months of the bill's enactment.

📈 NJ Utility Rates Also Set to Increase
Adding urgency, New Jersey utility companies have announced electric rate hikes of 17–20% effective June 1, 2025. These rate increases, combined with the looming end of the federal credit, could significantly increase the cost of inaction.
"Going solar now is not just about saving money," added Koedding. "It's about shielding your home from rising electric bills, locking in long-term savings, and capitalizing on incentives before they're gone."
💡 New Jersey Incentives Still Available (For Now)
In addition to the federal tax credit, NJ homeowners currently benefit from:
⏳ Time-Sensitive Action Required
Green Sun Energy Services encourages all interested homeowners to schedule consultations immediately, as permitting, interconnection, and installation timelines may extend beyond the federal deadline if action is delayed.
