Rezul News/10714558
Southern California-based startup Omnigarde-002 excels in latest 1:N Face Recognition Vendor Test, demonstrating significant advancements in accuracy
MISSION VIEJO, Calif. - Rezul -- Omnigarde, a Southern California-based technology firm specializing in biometric technologies, today announced the exceptional performance of its new AI-powered 1:N face recognition software, Omnigarde-002, in a recent National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) evaluation.
The software achieved a top-2 ranking among U.S.-based companies and a top-12 global ranking across eight comprehensive identification test scenarios. These impressive results, released by NIST on August 29, 2025, were based on the average False Negative Identification Rate (FNIR) at a False Positive Identification Rate (FPIR) of 0.003, showcasing significant advancements in identification accuracy.
The achievement stands out against a competitive landscape, with 604 software submissions from 175 companies having participated in the test since 2017. The NIST evaluation is a critical benchmark for gauging the performance and reliability of biometric technologies, and Omnigarde-002's high ranking underscores the company's position as a leader in the field.

Submitted to the NIST evaluation on July 28, 2025, Omnigarde-002's results were published on August 29, 2025. The software achieved a 10.73% reduction in average error rates compared to its predecessor, Omnigarde-001, underscoring the company's rapid progress in biometric identification technology.
"Omnigarde-002's success in the latest NIST FRVT evaluation is a testament to our team's dedication to pushing the boundaries of AI-powered biometrics," said Dr. Peter Lo, Founder and CEO of Omnigarde. "These results solidify our position at the forefront of technological advancement in face recognition and highlight our commitment to providing accurate, competitively priced solutions to the market".
The rigorous FRVT 1:N test evaluates a software's ability to match a query face image against a large database of enrolled images, with scenarios simulating real-world conditions such as varying image quality (e.g., mugshot, webcam, border), age differences of more than 12 years, and databases ranging from 1.6 million to 12 million images.
