New Podcast "Luke at the Roost" Blends AI-Generated Callers with Live Late-Night Radio Format
Rezul News/10728669
Every caller is a unique AI character with a full backstory and personality — and real listeners can call in too. 23 episodes in, the show is redefining what a podcast can be.
LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Rezul -- "Luke at the Roost," a late-night call-in talk show hosted by Luke MacNeil, is doing something no other podcast has attempted: generating every caller in real time using AI, then having unscripted conversations with them on air.
Each AI caller arrives with a complete identity — a name, age, job, hometown, speaking style, and a specific reason for calling. Some are nervous first-timers. Others are returning regulars who remember past episodes. None of them follow a script, and neither does Luke. The conversations go wherever they go, producing moments that range from laugh-out-loud funny to unexpectedly raw.
The show isn't AI-only. Real listeners call in live at 208-439-LUKE (208-439-5853), and the mix of human and AI callers creates a dynamic where the audience can't always tell who's real — and quickly stops caring, because the conversations feel genuine either way.

The entire technical infrastructure was built from scratch by MacNeil, including the AI caller generator with over 1,000 unique calling reasons, a multi-stem recording system, real-time voice synthesis, and an automated post-production pipeline that produces broadcast-standard audio.
Now 23 episodes deep with titles like "Tasting the Apocalypse" and "Secrets, Lies, and Revelations," the show has built a following among listeners drawn to its unpredictable format and emotional range. It represents a new use of AI in entertainment — not as a gimmick, but as a creative tool that enables a format one person couldn't pull off alone.
Luke at the Roost is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and everywhere podcasts are found.
