CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Rezul -- One of the perks of living in an HOA is often having a community pool just for HOA members and their guests. The pool can become a popular gathering place as temperatures rise and homeowners are looking to cool down and have fun. Kuester Management Group has released a statement to the press regarding ways the association can prepare before the pool opens for the summer season.

Have a professional come out and inspect the pool, service any equipment and pumps, and make sure that everything is in good working order, says Kuester. Schedule a thorough cleaning and leave enough time to get the chemical balance just right to create a safer swimming environment. Don't forget to inspect the pool deck as well for any potential hazards or concerns.

The HOA should also review all of its safety policies and procedures. Make sure that rules are fair and enforceable, and send out reminders to homeowners so they know what to expect. If keycards or passcodes are required to enter the pool area, let members know how to gain this access so they are ready to go when the pool officially opens. Inspect first aid kids, AED machines, life preservers, and other equipment to verify they are up to code and ready for use. If using lifeguards, make sure that all personnel are hired, trained, and have necessary licenses or certifications.
"It can be a good idea for the HOA to review its insurance coverage to ensure that it is up-to-date and fits the association's needs," says Kuester. "Double-check with the HOA's legal team as well to minimize liability and put proper safety measures in place."
