Kendall Square Orchestra Opens 2025–26 Season with The Wild and the Tame at Sanders Theatre
Rezul News/10714072
Ortiz's Kauyumari, Brahms' Double Concerto, and Tchaikovsky's Pathétique Symphony anchor a program exploring freedom, restraint, and the human condition.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Rezul -- Cambridge, MA — The Kendall Square Orchestra (K²O) launches its eighth season on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Harvard's Sanders Theatre with The Wild and the Tame, a program that captures the tension between instinct and restraint, chaos and form.
Led by David & Janet McCue Music Director Kristo Kondakçi, the evening features three powerful works spanning continents and centuries:
● Gabriela Ortiz: Kauyumari – A vivid contemporary score celebrating the blue deer spirit guide of the Huichol people, a symbol of wild freedom and spiritual quest.
● Johannes Brahms: Double Concerto in A minor – A work of reconciliation and friendship, balancing intimacy and power, featuring soloists Sophia Szokolay (violin) and Alan Toda-Ambaras (cello).

● Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 6 "Pathétique" – A raw, confessional symphony, its emotional extremes moving from ferocity to resignation, widely regarded as one of the most profound works in the repertoire.
"This program embraces the paradox at the heart of life," said Music Director Kristo Kondakçi. "In those moments where freedom encounters discipline, when wildness meets order and how, in that collision, we discover a beauty that feels profoundly human."
K²O continues to define itself as Boston's "Symphony of Innovation," uniting almost 100 musicians from over 70 science and technology institutions in the Kendall Square community. Beyond performance, the orchestra builds connections between music, innovation, and social impact, including its biennial Symphony for Science benefit at Symphony Hall.
