Y Earns Dual Top Workplace Honors
Rezul News/10705957
Recognition Affirms Jersey Shore YMCA's Focus on Employee Development, Community Wellness
SHREWSBURY, N.J. - Rezul -- YMCA of Greater Monmouth County (the Y) has secured dual honors as a 2025 Top Workplace, earning national recognition from USA Today and marking its fourth consecutive win from NJ Advance Media, solidifying its position as an exceptional employer in the Garden State and nationwide.
The Y is one of only 1,526 employers recognized at a national level by USA Today Top Workplaces 2025 and one of 18 New Jersey organizations in the large company category of 500 or more employees to be recognized as a Top Workplace by NJ Advance Media.
Both the USA Today and NJ Advance Media recognitions are based solely on employee feedback collected through a survey conducted by Energage, LLC, an employee engagement technology firm. The confidential surveys are based on specific themes that contribute to creating an ideal workplace culture, including whether employees feel valued, respected, empowered, and engaged. The surveys also ask employees how they feel about growth potential and if they're aligned with their employer's vision and mission.
"Receiving the Top Workplace Award for the fourth year in a row from NJ Advance Media and now from USA Today for the first time is proof we're carrying out our larger mission of strengthening our community," said YMCA of Greater Monmouth County President and CEO Laurie Goganzer. "The fact is our entire staff is part of that community. In order for us to execute on our commitment to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, we need all of our employees to feel valued, supported, and committed to the Y's goals. Year after year, our employees continue to tell us we're succeeding."

The Y has been providing a variety of programs serving more than 42,000 youth, teens, adults, and seniors throughout the Jersey Shore region for more than 150 years. From youth swim lessons to adult fitness classes, extensive counseling and social services, child care, and multiple prevention and wellness programs, the Y seeks to nurture and develop all aspects of the individuals it serves.
The Y strives to provide the same level of comprehensive development for its employees through activities like employee spotlights, team meetings, weekly email roundups, professional development, and a culture that promotes open communication.
"Many members of our community know the Y is a great place to come to exercise and connect with others, but these awards let people know it's also a great place to work," said the Y's Chief Human Resources Officer Maureen Simons. "The services we provide around mental health and substance abuse, grief support, and even our veterans and cancer support wellness programs play an integral role in strengthening the Jersey Shore community outside the walls of our buildings. The survey results tell us our employees see the impact they have and are proud to be a part of the Y family."
For those interested in joining the Y team, Simons noted that hiring fairs are scheduled in late July and early August for a variety of part-time and full-time positions in child care, counseling, fitness, wellness, sports and aquatics.
