Cowichan Valley Regional District Climate Website Earns International Recognition
Rezul News/10715056
International award spotlights Cowichan Valley website offering residents real-time climate adaptation tools.
DUNCAN, British Columbia - Rezul -- Cowichan Valley's climate adaptation website has earned international recognition with a Gold Hermes Creative Award, spotlighting the region's innovative approach to helping residents prepare for climate change.
Developed by Nanaimo-based agency Array in partnership with the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD), the award-winning microsite cowichanadapts.ca provides real-time tools for residents to track drought levels, water usage and restrictions, fire bans, and extreme weather risks. Residents can explore interactive maps, hazard banners, and downloadable guides to better understand and respond to changing conditions in the region.
"This site makes information about climate adaptation more accessible to our residents," said Jeff Moore, Manager of Environmental Services for the CVRD. "By working with a Vancouver Island firm, we were able to create something rooted in our community's needs while meeting international standards of innovation."

The Hermes Creative Awards are an international competition recognizing excellence in advertising, marketing, and digital media. More than 6,000 entries were submitted from over 30 countries this year, with winners selected by a panel of industry professionals.
"Working on this project allowed us to support the Cowichan Valley in raising awareness about climate change," said Kristina Crowson, CEO of Array. "Most importantly, it shares ways the community can take action."
Array also received additional Hermes Awards this year for projects with Solve Energy, Vancouver Island Whale Watch, and Turner & Associates.
