Rezul News/10698869
ST. JOHN'S, Antigua & Barbuda - Rezul -- American University of Antigua proudly announces the appointment of Dr. David Graham as Provost, effective April 1, 2025. Dr. Graham brings a distinguished career in academic medicine with leadership experience across Canada, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates. His work spans world-renowned institutions including Johns Hopkins University, McMaster University, Louisiana State University, Florida International University, Khalifa University College of Medicine, and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel
Dr. Graham has served as Executive Dean of Preclinical Sciences at AUA College of Medicine for the past three years. A dual-trained academic physician in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Radiology, he introduced ultrasound simulation to AUA's curriculum and spearheaded initiatives that led to significantly improved USMLE Step 1 pass rates—a key milestone in U.S. medical licensure.
"I am honored to step into the role of Provost and continue building on AUA's commitment to academic rigor, innovation, and student success," said Dr. Graham. "AUA is a university which empowers students from all backgrounds to become exceptional physicians. I look forward to working collaboratively with our faculty, staff, and leadership to further elevate our academic programs."

In his new position, Dr. Graham will oversee all academic affairs at AUA, including the College of Arts and Sciences (AUACAS). His focus will be on expanding academic programs, promoting innovation in teaching and learning, and supporting student achievement across disciplines.
As a result of Dr. Graham's promotion, Dr. Ricardo Hood, Chair of Clinical Medicine and a licensed U.S. physician, has been appointed Interim Dean of Preclinical Sciences at AUACOM. Dr. Hood brings decades of experience as an educator and clinician and will lead the preclinical program during an ongoing international search for a permanent dean.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our academic community," said Dr. Hood. "I look forward to supporting our students as they pursue their dreams as well as our faculty and staff that enhances our learning environment with their dedication and expertise."
Dr. Peter Bell, President of AUA, praised both leaders for their vision and dedication:
"Dr. Graham has elevated our academic standards and strengthened student outcomes during his tenure as Executive Dean. We're equally confident in Dr. Hood's ability to sustain that momentum and provide strong leadership during this transition."
