Advocate Radiation Oncology marks fifth anniversary of Tamarac cancer treatment center
Rezul News/10731289
TAMARAC, Fla. - Rezul -- Advocate Radiation Oncology recently celebrated the fifth anniversary of its cancer treatment center in Tamarac, which specializes in treating breast, prostate, lung, head, neck and other types of cancers.
Advocate's Tamarac cancer treatment center features Varian's TrueBeam linear accelerator, a state-of-the-art system that precisely targets and destroys tumor cells using external-beam radiation. The center is led by a pair of board-certified radiation oncologists, Drs. Thomas Klein and Georges Hobeika.
"Having been at the Tamarac center since day one, it's gratifying to have played in role in the cancer journey for hundreds of patients who have walked through our doors over the past five years," Klein said. "Our team is fully committed to providing world-class, compassionate care, and our central location in Broward County means families from Tamarac, North Lauderdale, Margate and surrounding communities only have to travel a few minutes for their treatments."

Klein graduated with honors from Duke University before earning a Ph.D. and M.D. in molecular genetics from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Following an internship at Georgetown University Medical Center, he completed radiation oncology training at the Yale School of Medicine, where he served as chief resident and became Yale's first Leonard B. Holman Research Pathway resident. Klein later served as the oncology preceptor for the University of Miami's Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program and has taught courses at the Yale University School of Medicine, Florida Atlantic University and Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
Hobeika earned his medical degree with honors at Lebanese University in Beirut before coming to the U.S for a radiation oncology residency at the University of Miami. He served as the assistant professor of radiation oncology at the University of Central Florida's College of Medicine, as well as on the faculty at Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine. Hobeika is fluent in English, French, Arabic and Spanish.

"Advocate promotes an evidence-based approach to cancer care that always puts patients first, so it was an easy decision to join the practice as Advocate expanded its footprint in South Florida," Hobeika said. "After a cancer diagnosis, it's a very emotional, challenging time in someone's life, but our team does a great job partnering with patients and their families throughout their cancer journey."
Hobeika's arrival at Advocate Radiation Oncology coincided with the practice's 2022 addition of a cancer treatment center in West Palm Beach. That expansion was followed in 2024 by new locations at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale and Broward Health North in Pompano Beach.
Located at 7850 N. University Drive in Tamarac, Drs. Klein and Hobeika can be reached by calling 754-205-0099 or visiting AdvocateRO.com.
