Maryland: Pesticide Advisory Committee meeting notice

~ The Pesticide Advisory Committee will convene on January 28, 2026, at 10 am for their regular meeting. The meeting will be held virtually and can be accessed through the video call link provided by the committee. Interested parties can also join by dialing the designated number and entering the PIN.
Chaired by Dr. Frederick Kutz, the committee will begin with introductory comments followed by a roll call of all committee members. The minutes from previous meetings can be found on the Maryland Department of Agriculture's website, but will only be provided if there is an issue with the recording.
The main topic of discussion for this meeting will be microplastics and their involvement in pesticide science. Dr. Andrew Lazur, a UMD Extension Specialist, will present recent literature on how microplastics impact pesticide degradation, distribution, transport, and container contamination.

Updates on the Pesticide Program will also be provided by Rob Hofstetter during the meeting. Additionally, there will be a discussion on filling vacant positions for an Ag Commission Representative and House of Delegates Representative.
The public is invited to attend and participate in the meeting. Those wishing to speak must request to do so and will have a maximum of five minutes to address the committee. Any documentation for member review can be submitted via email to pest.reg@maryland.gov with "Pesticide Advisory Committee Documents" in the subject line.
It is important to note that regardless of whether the meeting is held in-person or virtually, it will be cancelled if Anne Arundel County Schools are delayed for two hours or closed due to inclement weather or if there is a state-wide closure or liberal leave declared.
