Lloyd Roofing launches 'Hurricane Resource Hub' to protect, educate property owners
Rezul News/10675886
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Rezul -- As the height of hurricane season approaches, Lloyd Roofing has established an online Hurricane Resource Hub to protect homeowners and property managers who often are the target of unlicensed or inexperienced contractors after a storm.
"Scammers feed on our vulnerabilities after a hurricane," said Lloyd Roofing President Travis Lloyd. "Price gouging is always a concern, but we continue seeing more non-local contractors swoop into impacted areas and either perform subpar work or simply take the money and run."
The Hurricane Resource Hub outlines the importance of hiring trustworthy, local and licensed contractors that maintain a customer-oriented service philosophy, prioritize responsiveness and ensure reliability. The Hub also outlines warning signs that can indicate a contractor is not reputable and links to blogs covering hurricane damage, blue roofs, evaluating contractors and more. The webpage features a consumer awareness video filmed after Hurricane Ian, which devastated Southwest Florida in September 2022.
"A lot of these out-of-town contractors will take the insurance money, do the cheapest repairs and replacements they can, and then you'll never see them again," said Rast Bryant, Lloyd Roofing's general manager for Southwest Florida. "Before you sign any documents, it's important to understand who you're signing them with."
