IBT of Miami completes construction of $106 million hospital in Panama

The modern hospital will benefit a population of more than 200,000 in in La Villa de Los Santos in Panama's southern Azuaro Peninsula.

MIAMI - April 15, 2019 - Rezul -- IBT of Miami completed the construction of a 257-bed hospital in Panama, part of the country's drive to modernize healthcare and the first hospital in Latin America to incorporate a new model of psychiatric care.

The $106 million Anita Moreno Regional Hospital, which includes capacity for more than 100 psychiatric patients, will benefit a population of more than 200,000 in in La Villa de Los Santos in Panama's southern Azuaro Peninsula.

It was a privilege to build the modern infrastructure that will provide top-level medical services, including an intensive care unit, advanced diagnostic support services and specialized medical personnel," said Daniel Toledano, managing director and chief operating officer of IBT Group of Miami.

More than 350 local workers were employed during the construction of the 387,500 square-foot-structure, contributing to the economic development of the region.

The hospital offers a wide range of medical services and specialties, such as outpatient consultation, urgent care, ambulatory surgery, imaging, dermatology, infectious disease, dentistry, cardiology and geriatrics. The center includes pharmacy and laboratory services and an intensive care unit. Mental health specialty services include geriatric psychiatry, psychosocial support, and a day hospital for the follow-up and care of patients who have finished their treatments.

Panama President Juan Carlos Varela and Minister of Health Miguel A. Mayo were among dignitaries who attended the hospital's inauguration ceremony.
