At Kranti Yoga School in Goa this season there's a brand new course available: 100 hrs Hatha Flow Immersion. Taking place over 2 weeks, this Hatha Flow and Subtle Body Immersion course will cover everything from Vedic Philosophy, Hatha Asanas, Kundalini Yoga, and the Energetic Body. You will learn how to move mindfully with the movement meditation of Hatha Flow Yoga, participating in daily Hatha Flow classes and improving your own asana practice.

The basis for these 90-minute Hatha classes is the chakras, with each class focusing on a different chakra working from the muladhara (base) up. These classes will demonstrate how to build a commentary based on each chakra and create a slow flow sequence that stimulates these energy centres. You will leave feeling totally connected to that chakra; invigorating and balancing your energetic body. The postures will be low impact in a Hatha Flow style, providing a soft and subtle practice for your day.

Hatha Yoga (from "ha" meaning sun, and "tha" meaning moon) is the yoga of balance. It reinforces balance between the body and spirit, flexibility and strength, and relaxation and concentration. Today we think of Hatha as a style of yoga; using a mix of active and passive movements in a sequence and holding specific asanas for a 5-10 breaths, but really Hatha Yoga can be considered anything you do with your body – such as pranayama, mantras, mudras, and asanas.

Some of the oldest known Hatha Yoga asanas are thought to be Ardha Matsyendrasana (half lord of the fishes), Sirsasana (headstand), and Savasana (corpse pose). But today we have an innumerable amount of sequences, asanas, and variations demonstrated in Hatha Yoga classes. There is no set sequence and no set asanas one must perform, which leaves a lot of room for creativity in these classes. Hatha Yoga is also an excellent type of yoga for beginners as you will spend enough time in each posture to really understand the correct alignment. The teacher will provide you with cues and you can take the time understanding how a posture is meant to feel, where you should be targeting, and how to safely enter in and out of the asanas.
